Nicole Nagel – Gogolak creates large-scale sculptural relief installations assembled from multiple slices of various sized organically shaped local wood painted with encaustic medium.  Nature and sacred spaces influence her creative process. Her aesthetic relies on intuition and a personal visual language built from colors and textures gathered while exploring remote places and serene Forest trails.  In her work, the collision of ornate sacred imagery and meditative spaces she experienced in Nepal and Tibet, influence the way she fuses multiple layers of pigmented wax.  Etched lines carefully draw elaborate stories into the surface.  They carve out a delicately laced tangle of unspoken intentions, prayer, hopes and dreams.  She believes each individual piece holds a unique expression of a sublime moment in time.  Collectively arranged, they become part of a poetic visual whole.  Similar to a glacial Moraine or lakeshore debris, they drift together slowly to become lovely and  complete.
